Branded Services Account Manager

Job Introduction

Purpose of the role

The Northern Europe Branded Services team is responsible for securing affiliate deals for our branded services with all cable, satellite, IPTV and other partners in Northern Europe (and Western Europe in the case of BBC Entertainment and BBC World News), and is responsible for generating advertising revenue working with our ad sales houses in Norway and the Netherlands.

The Branded Services Account Manager sits at the heart of this team, building relationships with existing and new affiliate partners in Northern Europe (with particular focus on the Nordics) and ensuring effective relationships with our ad sales houses.

Role Responsibility

Accountabilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for our Nordics affiliate partners and ad sales houses in Norway and the Netherlands
  • Foster and maintain close contact with our affiliates partners in the Nordics in order to:
    • Ensure we deliver on contractual requirement, e.g. delivering agreed volumes of video-on-demand content
    • Ensure our affiliate partners deliver to us timely and complete reporting
    • Ensure our affiliate partners pay us in line with our agreements with us
    • Support all other areas of BBCW and the affiliate organisation work effectively together, e.g. marketing and PR
    • Manage affiliate client expectations and ideally help BBCW over-deliver against these expectations
  • Support the Regional Distribution Director to maintain and grow the affiliates business by:
    • Ensuring all relevant individuals know when contracts are due for renewal or particular clauses become due, e.g. performance clauses or catch up and VOD deliveries, and maintaining up-to-date timelines for key affiliate account
    • Assisting in the preparation for negotiations with affiliate clients by providing reporting and being involved in the problem solving discussions ahead of negotiations
    • Securing responses from affiliate clients during negotiations and arranging meetings to keep the negotiation process on track
    • Liaising with the legal team to ensure contracts are turned round in good time and to secure signature from the affiliate clients
    • Running research to identify potential new affiliate partners
  • Ensure the smooth-running internally of our accounts with affiliate partners, by ensuring details are up to date on Salesforce, our CRM system
  • Foster and maintain close contact with our ad sales houses in Norway and in the Netherlands in order to:
    • Maintain up-to-date forecasts from the ad sales houses, based on ratings forecasts we provide from our insights team
    • Run at least quarterly planning sessions with our ad sales houses to ensure we are receiving all relevant data and advice to improve our ratings and revenue performance, and to ensure the ad sales teams are briefed on our editorial strategies and upcoming content
    • Ensure all contracted reporting – and any required ad hoc reporting – is delivered to BBCW in a timely manner and in user-friendly formats
    • Ensure all monies due to BBCW are paid on time and in full
    • Liaise effectively between our ad sales houses and our advertising guardians and editorial policy teams regarding sponsorship and advertising compliance
  • Support the Regional Distribution Director in preparations for advertising contract renewals by providing reporting, researching alternative ad sales houses, and joining problem solving meetings ahead of the negotiations
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial forecasts for affiliate and advertising revenues, working with the Regional Distribution Director
  • There will be regular travel to Nordic territories

 Relationships

  • At least weekly contact with Nordics affiliates and Norway and Netherlands ad sales houses
  • Daily contact with Regional Distribution Director
  • Weekly contact with the other functions responsible for delivering for our affiliates and ad sales houses: programming, insight, marketing, communications, operations, legal and finance. You will attend weekly channel performance meetings
  • Weekly contact with EVP Northern Europe

 Education

No specific requirements

 Professional Experience

Account Management experience in a consumer-facing business is preferred

Experience in television advertising would be advantageous

Knowledge of the Nordics territory is preferred but is not essential
