Commercial Finance Analyst - Franchise Brands

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Finance Analyst to join the Finance team on a 12 month fixed term contract. This pivotal role, reporting into the Head of Finance, Franchise Brands, provides financial planning and analysis on Franchise Brand performance. It's primary function is to support Franchise Directors and enable the Franchise Board to make effective commercial decisions.
The Franchise Board will ensure that BBC Worldwide is able to support BBC Group strategy for our existing franchises, currently encompassing Doctor Who, Top Gear, BBC Earth and Children’s. The Board is also responsible for setting strategic imperatives for identification, acquisition and management of new franchise IP.
Prepare quarterly consolidated analysis on BBC group performance on distribution and production margins for the franchise brands, including regional and line of business views of BBCW distribution performance.
Partner with regional finance and commercial teams to provide analysis and interpretation of global brand performance, including commentary against budget and latest forecasts for the 4 Franchise Brands.
Coordinate rolling forecasts with regional finance teams to track BBCW performance against franchise plans, flagging risks and opportunities.
Monitor and update KPI reporting and post investment reviews to measure delivery of returns against approved franchise plans.
Communicate, report and advise on relevant data and trends to the franchise team, to support the development of an efficient financial control and reporting environment, and to promote financial understanding throughout the organisation of key strategic choices such as revenue vs reach.
Support the completion of the annual and quarterly planning process through the provision of supporting schedules and the timely maintenance of data within the SAP/BW financial system to comply with BBCW reporting and strategic requirements.
Prepare modelling of five year franchise plans and new business initiatives to support delivery of global franchise strategy, encompassing content sales, ancillary and new franchise initiatives.
Provide support to the business through analysing new opportunities for existing businesses and modelling new strategic opportunities to develop business models and demonstrate their financial viability.
Support franchise teams where appropriate, in negotiating new deals through revenue modelling, to deliver increased income.
Ensure compliance with BBCW Accounting Policies, IFRS, and where applicable, local GAAP to ensure business risks are minimised and continually looking for opportunities to improve processes and controls to ensure compliance and minimise risk.

- Self-starter, confident with minimal supervision.
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Professional accounting qualifications admirable but not essential
- Experience of preparing and reviewing financial analysis to a high standard within tight deadlines.
- Experience of financial reporting and forecasting within the media, entertainment or publishing industry desirable.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel (including pivot tables) and Powerpoint. SAP and BW experience preferable.
