BBC Children’s Interactive is the BBC’s multiplatform offering for children bringing the very best drama, entertainment and factual programmes to its young viewers and users. The majority of our output is UK-made, reflecting children’s lives in the UK today. Popular programmes on the channels include Horrible Histories, Bing, The Next Step, Andy’s Dinosaur Adventures, Danger Mouse, and The Dumping Ground as well as long-running favourites Blue Peter, Newsround and Something Special. CBBC and CBeebies are the most-loved and most-watched channels for children in their target age groups. BBC Children’s aims to encourage children to find out more about existing interests and inspire them to develop new ones; helps them understand the world around them and entertains when they just want to relax.
Your role will be to lead a BBC Children’s Interactive Live Site team, working with a Senior Content Producer and Digital Leads as well as editorial, marketing and technical teams delivering great content on a daily basis and managing the online presence of brands across the BBC Children’s portfolio.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll have experience of managing / designing / building high-quality interactive products, games, websites and /or complex database-driven systems on digital media platforms with hands-on experience of technical or design skills using tools such as CMS and Photoshop. You’ll also need basic filming and editing skills. You’ll have a good knowledge of the output of BBC Children's on all platforms and will be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the children's audience, current trends and what appeals to them, with an understanding of their behaviour and needs in this interactive space. An awareness of data protection and child protection issues will also be needed.
