Finance Business Partner- Corporate Finance
A new opportunity for a Finance Business Partner has become available at the BBC within Corporate Finance.
The Corporate Finance team provides finance support and advice across the BBC businesses (public and commercial), adding value by providing insightful financial analysis and acting as critical adviser on key financial decisions.
Finance Business Partners (FBPs) within the corporate finance team drive best value for the BBC from each business area. FBPs will lead reviews of large scale and/or high-impact commercial and investment decisions and partner operational teams to support effective financial planning at a strategic level in the BBC. They will lead teams of analysts delivering financial and business analysis to help solve key business problems, progress local initiatives, answer business questions and influence business decisions.
Within this role you will help to resolve key business issues and problems by delivering solutions and recommendations, based on sound analysis, for the two Heads of Corporate Finance (public service and commercial) and/or relevant operational stakeholders - sharing external and BBC-wide knowledge and good practice
You will maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of allocated divisional businesses - building and developing effective relationships with key business contacts
It will be your responsibility to own and deliver high quality financial and business analysis with recommendations to solve business problems and to influence and challenge business decisions
You will also own the delivery of effective financial and business analytical support for divisional projects / business initiatives – helping to improve business decisions and divisional performance.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
A background in financial analysis and assessment that incorporates an ability to read and interpret company accounts (e.g. corporate finance experience or a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
Knowledge of and enthusiasm for broadcasting and digital media and demonstrable interest in the output of BBC Television, Radio and Online
Experience of and demonstrable ability to build trust with partners, develop deep working relationships and manage multiple work streams across multiple partners
Proven ability to lead small teams of analysts and/or researchers
Demonstrable passion for and knowledge of the BBC with an understanding of the commercial environment in which it operates
Experience of influencing and working collaboratively across organisational boundaries with internal stakeholders, partners and suppliers
Experience in managing complex projects or change processes is also highly relevant
A highly analytical approach, able to evaluate information critically with a sense of curiosity and solid attention to detail
A self-starter, strategic and a good team player with a drive to improve the status quo
Demonstrate keen business awareness with some appreciation of the commercial broadcast market and the internal BBC market
Influencing and persuasion skills; at times delivering difficult messages to BBC partners while maintaining trust and goodwill
Interpersonal and communication skills (including experience in creating presentations) sufficient to enable the post holder to influence internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrable financial modelling and analysis skills
Ability to filter, interpret and summarise complex data in order to identify key drivers and confidently make recommendations that facilitate decision making by senior stakeholders
9 month Fixed term contract
Interviews with the Heads of Corporate Finance will be held on 25 and 26 September and will include a short case study assessment exercise.
