Group Finance & Operations Director
As Group Finance & Operations Director you be responsible for delivering financial and strategic leadership to multiple businesses units, developing strong relationships with all key stakeholders and acting as a trusted advisor for all business issues.
You will play a key leadership role in ensuring the BBC is driving best value from the licence fee - creating value today through robust control and risk management and adding future value through effective investment management support and advice.
Driving excellence in financial performance, you will hold the business to account for delivery against financial budget / forecasts, providing objective perspectives on business performance, highlighting key issues and problem areas, including making recommendations for action.
Acting as a role model for your direct reports, youll also provide effective line management and leadership, taking a proactive approach to support staff development and career progression through mentoring and coaching.
The Ideal Candidate
Significant relevant experience of financial management at senior level in either the private or the public sector, and being able to demonstrate continuing professional and personal development.
A record of successful leadership in a complex organisation, and in-depth understanding of the principles, regulatory frameworks, legal requirements and ideally the practicalities of public sector finance.
Ability to work effectively as part of a senior management team, and to contribute to the development and achievement of strategic goal.
Excellent communication skills are essential and you will be accustomed to acting as a business partner to both finance and non-finance stakeholders alike.
Ability to lead, manage and develop a finance team; and to lead effective financial management across a complex organisation.
A focus on best-practice and continuous improvement is a pre-requisite and you will also demonstrate a highly commercial mindset with the ability to critically appraise financial information and provide robust support for business decisions.
Ability to analyse complex data, quickly identify key issues and explain them clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. The ability to convey complex points to non-financial specialists. Ability to work well under pressure and in changing and sometimes uncertain conditions.
Technical expertise commensurate with the responsibilities of the post as set out, including understanding of business case processes, financial planning, risk management.
