Head of Partnerships
BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international charity, which uses media and communications to help reduce poverty and support people to understand their rights. We do this through partnering with civil society, media and others to produce creative programming and other content which inform and engage audiences. We also strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure in countries where we work. We focus on health, governance and rights, and resilience and humanitarian response. The Head of Partnerships is a senior role in the organisation and part of BBC Media Action’s leadership team. You will lead proactive development of new opportunities, primarily through building relationships with new and existing donors and partners.
This role is aimed at increasing creative capacity to develop and secure projects, in addition to managing external relationships with a diverse range of donors. You will lead and manage key donor relationships as well as building relationships with other partners, representing BBC Media Action externally, principally in the UK and Europe. You will be experienced in strategy development and profile-raising with a track record of securing development projects which deliver impact at scale. Reporting to the Director of Programmes, you will work closely with Regional Directors and Country Directors and lead a small team providing a resource to the organisation. You will bring creativity, sound judgement and understanding of the BBC’s editorial values to the senior Programme Team.
The Ideal Candidate
This position will require the following skills:-
Experience at a senior level of proactively developing, designing and securing funding for development projects.
Experience of building partnerships with international development donors and other sector organisations.
Management experience, including leading a team and managing budgets.
Knowledge of international development sector trends and of the key themes in which BBC Media Action works.
Demonstrable knowledge and/or understanding of BBC editorial values and an ability to design compelling media and communications projects.
Maternity cover until 30/09/18
