Head of Strategy - Technology Transformation

This unique role sits in our new division Technology Strategy and Architecture (TS&A), this new division is leading the work to re-engineer and transforming the BBC’s technology, platform and digital capabilities, promoting co-creation and co-innovation across the communities of strategists, technologists, architects and engineers. This is the team that is leading our digital transformation to be a data driven, Digital First BBC that will Inform, Educate and Entertain our audiences in new and distinctive ways
What you’ll be doing:
You will work as part of a multi-specialist leadership team reporting to the Chief Architect and will be tasked with defining, evolving and mobilising the BBC’s Technology Strategy and agreed digital transformation priorities. You will draw on insight gained from inside and outside the BBC, to define and lead the pan-BBC technology transformation required to deliver that Strategy. Further to this you will be responsible for leading a flexible team which will bring the expertise and relationship management required to mobilise the execution of our technology and digital strategies. Your team will also gain and communicate insight on technologies and consumer behaviours, co-ordinate the BBC’s involvement in industry wide technology-related partnerships and standards bodies, and design and lead the definition of technology change initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate
What you’ll need:
You will have experience of leading the implementation of digital transformation change having a deep experience of successfully transforming technology and creating new and differentiating public service opportunities. You will be able to demonstrate a strong track record in negotiation in the face of complexity and uncertainty and your approach to decision making will be data driven. You will take pride in your creative approach to problem solving having a proven ability to convey complex information across multiple audiences, including senior and external partners. Communicating enthusiastically and motivating others by adapting your style to fit the audience will be key to your success! Collaborative, generous and empathetic are essential traits we are looking for in our leader, someone who is comfortable to deliver with and through others having the ability to adapt to change style where necessary. As well as this will also have budget responsibility thus a fluency in the financial decision making and budget building is required.
