Investigations Correspondent, Newsnight
Newsnight aims to break important, original stories and is seeking a brilliant investigative reporter to join its team of award-winning correspondents and producers.
Reporting to the Editor, the Investigations Correspondent will contribute to Newsnight by producing long term investigations as well as sometimes contributing to big ongoing stories. Some investigations will take months, but there will also be times when we'll need to dig up new lines on moving the stories in days
You will also have the opportunity to develop your own stories as well as helping to oversee other investigative work by other members of the Newsnight team, and other reporters and producers working on projects for the programme. You will work closely with the Investigations Producer.
You will be expected to produce long films, the occasional on the day piece, as well as live two ways. If you have an exclusive story, they could appear or break it on any other BBC outlet like the BBC News Channel or 5live.
The Ideal Candidate
We want a first rate reporter with a proven track record of breaking big stories who can comfortably work across all subject areas from politics to sport. You will be an established investigative journalist with a wide range of contacts and sources as well as having experience with a range of different investigative approaches including data journalism, Freedom Of Information (FOI) and undercover reporting.
You'll work principally from the UK and where relevant from around the world.
Start date: The successful candidate would be expected to start as early as possible in 2014.
