Marketing Executive - BBC World Service

Job Introduction

The World 2020 programme aims to increase the impact and reach of BBC World Service, spending £290 million pounds specifically allocated by the government over the next four years. The overall objective of the World Service Marketing team is to drive new audiences to World Service products and services which will contribute to the overall business objective of reaching 500 million people per week by 2022. 

Marketing expertise is required to run paid media and digital content marketing campaigns to drive awareness of new services, trial of new digital content and brand equity among audiences.

We’re looking for 2 individuals who are full of ideas and have a real passion for news. They will have enthusiasm for all things digital and keen to understand the role Marketing plays across BBC journalism around the world.

Role Responsibility

In this role you will work with the Marketing Managers, but also have autonomy, to delivery and evaluate multi-media campaigns including digital, TV, radio and out of home. This is an exciting, fast moving environment, with global responsibilities which requires an organised and proactive marketing executive. 

The role will work in-house and with media and digital agencies, to deliver a coherent, consistent brand marketing experience for audiences. It will be really important to build strong relationships in this role as you will be working with senior stakeholders and colleagues, Editorial teams, media agencies, digital agencies and Audiences teams to ensure that content is distributed through the most effective media channels and monitored and evaluated appropriately.

The Ideal Candidate

As well as the skills and knowledge stipulated in the job description you will also have experience in and understanding of both B2C and B2B marketing, preferably within the broadcasting industry with experience across digital, TV and/or Radio with particular experience on:

  • Delivering multi-media campaigns
  • Working with in-house creative and third party digital and media agencies
  • Leading the way in new digital and social media campaigns
  • Delivering post campaign planning reports including the ability to interpret digital data
  • Budget management and ensuring the efficient use of resources
  • Driving collaboration across organisational boundaries
  • Managing critical stakeholder relationships

You will need to have a keen interest in News, Politics and Current Affairs, as well as further developing your marketing skills and experience. A good command of spoken and written English is essential.
