BBC World Japan Limited has been broadcasting BBC World News since 1994, providing the BBC’s quality news product with Japanese subtitles to audiences in Japan.
Based in Tokyo, you will work on the BBC News Japanese language website http://www.bbc.com/japanese and its associated services, primarily in management of our social media presence; ensuring BBC News Japan is consistently innovative and the social offering is engaging and coherent whilst upholding the BBC News' editorial values.
You will work with the BBC News Online team based in Tokyo and collaborate with your counterparts in Singapore and London when necessary. You will be expected to select, translate, and edit BBC news pieces, conveying the quality and scope of BBC journalism in Japanese.
The Ideal Candidate
Substantial journalistic experience with social media management within Japan is essential, together with fluent Japanese and excellent English language skills (with the ability to translate from English to Japanese). You will have a detailed knowledge of social media, industry trends and emerging technologies. You will have a broad knowledge of international affairs – in particular, the Asia-Pacific region.
