BBC Audience Platform is one of the BBC's biggest and most ambitious online projects. The ultimate aim being to personalise the online content, and engage more effectively with our audiences. Role Responsibility

This exciting role sits in the Audience Account team, building new features and looking after the mission critical Single Sign On platform for all the BBC public services. To succeed, we need to deliver elegant user experiences, as well as a service thats performant and reliable at scales to tens of millions of users, in a secure manner.

As a key member of this dynamic Agile team you will be responsible for:

  • building and maintaining this system which is based on the ForgeRock platform.
  • continually pushing the boundaries of what is possible on this platform (which is deployed within AWS)
  • developing new features for the BBC ID system.
  • bug fixing and improving quality of the BBC ID Systems.

The BBC ID Systems are Written in a mixture of Java and Javascript and Python and hosted in AWS. Based on the ForgeRock products OpenAM, OpenIDM, OpenDj and a wide range of AWS services. And have a continuous deployment system based upon Jenkins and Cosmos.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Software Engineering experience of developing with Java or Javascript.
  • Experience of a data persistence technology be it a relation DB modelor other model like a JSON store.
  • Experience of developing using a version control system, such as GIT, Perforce, SVN, CVS or other
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience of a team centered methodology like Agile.
  • A passion for new technologies and different programming languages.

Help us to deliver the solutions robustly and securely at scale eg systems with more than 25,000tps, dealing with 2 billion data points in real time daily by the end of the year, delivering tens of millions of alerts in under a minute, and large scale events such as voting on Strictly Come Dancing and Glastonbury on iPlayer.
