Story Editor, Holby City
With over 350 hours of in-house output a year, BBC Drama Production is making some of the most original, diverse and highly acclaimed television. These range from continuing drama such as Holby City, Casualty, EastEnders and Doctors, to series and serials such as Silent Witness, Luther and Our Girl to name just a few.
Holby City is BBC1’s BAFTA award winning Medical Drama Series transmitted on BBC One every Tuesday, with an average audience of 6 million viewers a week.
To support the Story Producer to deliver high quality, cost-effective drama within the framework of BBC Editorial Guidelines.
You will be expected to write detailed synopses of stories so that all the Writers, and Editorial team are fully aware of the stories as a whole and ensure that upcoming story continuity is communicated and understood.
Additionally you will write and update character biographies as required and initiate research into possible new story material.
The Ideal Candidate
With extensive experience of drama script or story editing on a long running drama, you will be able to create, develop and write story ideas and storylines in line with the continuity of the series.
A demonstrable interest and understanding of the genre, especially Holby City is essential.
Additionally you will be aware of the financial impact of differing storylines and cast budgets and have the ability to resolve problems that may arise during the development stages.
