Welcome to Work Experience opportunities in SalfordÂ within News & Journalism. If youâre interestedÂ in Radio & Television news, broadcast production, newsgathering techniquesÂ andÂ getting some great practical experience on your CV, youâve come to the right place.
The BBC is responsible forÂ the production of news across all Networks including the BBC 5Live, Radio Manchester and BBC Vietnamese.
Every placement is different, but your Work Experience will give you a good all round overview of News & JournalismÂ across programming, reporting and editing. You may get the chance to watch broadcasts go out on air and understand the processes for Drama and Entertainment.
During your online application, you will have the opportunity to choose your placement and tell us about the things youâre really interested in.

We want people who are creative, keenÂ to learn and are up for a challenge. In News & JournalismÂ we work in teams where everyone has a role to play. Weâre looking for people who are friendly and good communicators.
We work at a fast pace. So youâll need to be enthusiastic and motivated to keep up.
We take our jobs seriously and really enjoy what we do. If youâre passionate about News & JournalismÂ and are prepared to work hard, ask lots of questions and contribute ideas, youâll fit right in.
You donât need a media qualificationÂ to apply. You just need to be able to show us that youâre passionate about News & JournalismÂ and have a genuine desire to find out what the industry has to offer.

We have placements available in the following areas:
BBC Radio 5Live/Radio Manchester/BBC BreakfastÂ (August and September only - over 18)
OpportunityÂ to assist with preparing scripts,Â collecting vox pops and taking calls from listeners withinÂ Radio 5Live/Radio Manchester and BBC Breakfast
The One Show/Rip Off Britain (August and September only - over 18)
You'll have the opportunity to gain experienceÂ working on short film and programme ideas, helping to plan, schedule and organise some aspects of a location shoot toÂ assistÂ the team with location filming.
Newsround (August and September - over 18)
Gain experience working on short film and programme ideas, be encouraged to comeÂ up with ideas for contributors and assistÂ the team with location filming.Â
