Welcome to Work Experience opportunities in Salford within Radio. If youre interestedin RadioProduction, Drama, Factual & Entertainment andgetting some great practical experience on your CV, youve come to the right place.

The BBC is responsible forradio networks in Salford including Radio 4 and Radio 3.

Role Responsibility

Every placement is different, but your Work Experience will give you a good all round overview of Radio across music, news, debate and entertainment.You will get an introduction to how local, nationaland internationalprogrammes are produced from beginning to end. You may get the chance to watch broadcasts go out on air, and understand the production processes.

During your online application, you will have the opportunity to choose your placement and tell us about the things youre really interested in.

Background/Experience

You dont need a media qualificationto apply. You just need to be able to show us that youre passionate about Radioand have a genuine desire to find out what the industry has to offer.

We have placements available in the following areas:

Radio Production North (Factual) - (Over 18's only)

You'll, work alongside the Production Co-ordinators supporting live programmes such as You & Yours and Womans Hour, collating scripts, timing live broadcasts and assisting the production teams.

Radio & Music Production North (Drama open to applicants 14 and over)

If you love listening to Radio Drama maybe this is the placement for you. In Radio Drama Salford we make 50 hours of output a year for Radio 4 and Radio 3 with a core team of 10 staff. Returning strands include Darleen Fyles, Brief Lives, Black Roses, Stone and Higher, plus many other programmes for all the Radio 4 drama slots and Drama on 3. This is an opportunityto be mentored by our team of Production Co-ordinators in all aspects of the work that they do from contracting talent to timing the takes in studio.

Religion & Ethics (over 18)

Experience may include a variety of production support tasks including general administration; music reporting; assisting researchers with fact finding. There may be opportunities to attend live studios (radio), location broadcasts and recording/editing sessions.
