Work Experience in Salford in Television

Welcome to Work Experience opportunities in Salford within Television. Whether you’re interested in Arts, Science & History, Documentaries & Specialist Features, Drama, Factual & Entertainment and getting some great practical experience on your CV, you’ve come to the right place.

The BBC is responsible for a significant volume of TV across channels such as CBBC and programmes such as Blue Peter.

Role Responsibility

Every placement is different, but your Work Experience will give you a good all round overview of production. You could be helping with research, learning how a studio operates working on outside broadcasts and in a live studio. You may get the chance to watch programmes go out on air and understand the processes for commissioning, producing, scheduling and broadcasting. 

During your online application, you will have the opportunity to choose your placement and tell us about the things you’re really interested in.

We want people who are creative, keen to learn and are up for a challenge. In Television we work in teams where everyone has a role to play. We’re looking for people who are friendly and good communicators.

We work at a fast pace. So you’ll need to be enthusiastic and motivated to keep up.

We take our jobs seriously and really enjoy what we do. If you’re passionate about Television and are prepared to work hard, ask lots of questions and contribute ideas, you’ll fit right in.


You don’t need a media qualification  to apply. You just need to be able to show us that you’re passionate about Television and have a genuine desire to find out what the industry has to offer.

We have placements available in the following areas:

Blue Peter Interactive Team (over 18)

The Blue Peter Interactive Team creates all of Blue Peter’s web, tablet and mobile content. You'll get to experience photoshop, gfx & animation, self-shooting & editing. Any CMS, blogging or word press experience.

BBC Children’s (over 18)

Placements are offered across the whole of Children’s – in our factual, news, radio, and entertainment areas or with the interactive and development teams for Cbeebies and CBBC. We welcome enthusiastic candidates who have an interest in progrmame making and children’s TV.   

Entertainment Production North (over 18)

You'll get to be involved in supporting the production team in the office, during the pre-production, tape logging and assisting in sourcing of audience members

Learning (over 18)

Successful candidates may get an opportunity to experience scheduling, logging/transcribing rushes for edit and working with the researcher to source suitable contributors with key brands such as Bitesize, Skillswise, and Class Clips. 

North West Tonight (over 18)

North West News has the highest viewing figures for a local news programme in the North West. You'll have the opportunity to shadow our reporters and play an active role in our busy news room; following news stories from concept to production.
