Extendee - Researcher, BBC Learning
BBC Learning seeks to connect, create and magnify powerful opportunities for learning across the entire BBC to inspire all audiences.
In 2013 we ran events for The One Show Roadshow, Stargazing Live, The Summer of Wildlife and Cbeebies Live Tour, to name a few.
The department is also home to a comprehensive specialist learning offering that includes key brands such as Bitesize and Skillswise.
You'll work within BBC Learning’s development team; identifying amazing opportunities to collaborate with other parts of the BBC in order to inspire a life full of learning, that are then turned into opportunities to work with the BBC’s biggest brands on face to face events, roadshows and tours or on additional content that adds real value for audiences. Researchers in BBC Learning are expected to help originate and produce excellent content and/or events by contributing first class research effort as well as prioritising and organising information that will enable us to fulfil the departmental vision to inspire a life full of learning for all our audiences.
The Ideal Candidate
We need you to be a creative self-starter with initiative and tenacity and the ability to see how your work fits in with the wider needs of the department. You'll have an interest in and an ability to adapt to the latest technologies to ensure we’re delivering content to audiences how they want and when they want it. As well as some prior experience of working at a similar level in a broadcast, development or event management environment, you'll also have a track record in originating exciting, innovative and audience focussed ideas. You'll have excellent research skills, be able to work accurately and with minimum supervision and have the ability to write clear, concise treatments and briefs.
Extend – BBC Disability Scheme
Exclusively for disabled people, Extend is an award-winning, BBC-wide work placement scheme which offers appropriately experienced and/or qualified people a great opportunity to gain six months’ paid work experience within the BBC.
Although the scheme doesn’t necessarily lead to a full-time job, last year 70% gained further work at the BBC.
From October 2014, 12 placements will be available across the UK, in both programming areas and programme support areas. You’ll need to match the criteria for the placement as well as demonstrate a keen interest in broadcasting and knowledge of BBC output.
