Extendee - Team Assistant, Radio 1/1Xtra
BBC Radio 1 aims to entertain and engage a broad range of young listeners with a distinctive mix of contemporary music and speech; BBC Radio 1Xtra plays the best in contemporary black music, with a strong emphasis on live music and supporting new UK artists. Working closely together the stations look to connect the BBC with the next generation of young audiences and be the leading voice in young UK culture.
The Assistant role will be part of a team that sits within any of the following Content Management disciplines â Business, Operations, Scheduling, Commissioning, Production, Personal or Team.
As a Team Assistant you will be supporting the team to ensure effective team administration, assist with the organisation of the team, and will facilitate smooth office organisation that will support the creative ambitions of the production team. You'll provide comprehensive administration support, support processes and systems ensuring all data is accurate and timely and have an understanding of BBC policies and work within BBC guidelines.
The Ideal Candidate
We need your understanding, passion and knowledge of a wide range of the music genres featured on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. You'll have excellent practical knowledge and skills in using a range of broadcast and office packages, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You'll be able to prioritise, use initiative and to work effectively without close supervision and to meet deadlines, often under pressure.
Extend â BBC Disability Scheme
Exclusively for disabled people, Extend is an award-winning, BBC-wide work placement scheme which offers appropriately experienced and/or qualified people a great opportunity to gain six monthsâ paid work experience within the BBC.
Although the scheme doesnât necessarily lead to a full-time job, last year 70% gained further work at the BBC.
From October 2014, 12 placements will be available across the UK, in both programming areas and programme support areas. Youâll need to match the criteria for the placement as well as demonstrate a keen interest in broadcasting and knowledge of BBC output.
