In 2014, the BBC announced plans to move BBC Three from a traditional linear television channel to a digital model. On 30 June 2015 the BBC Trust provisionally approved these plans, although final approval is not expected until the autumn. Regardless of the decision, BBC Three is aiming to reach audiences across a growing range of platforms in the coming years. The plan is to transition to a fully digital service in January 2016 – switching off the existing linear television channel at that time.
As a result of this transition, we are looking for a talented Assistant Content Producer to support with this exciting project. This is an attachment/fixed term contract for 6 months, based in London.
Reporting to the Content Producer, you will primarily be responsible for developing, producing and publishing original digital content for the BBC Three audience in the form of video, images, graphics, audio and text. You will research and recommend new trends that you think BBC Three should be reflecting in its digital output. Creating content in line with the social calendar and for upcoming events and moments significant to the 16-34 year audience is a key part of this role. You will closely monitor performance on social media channels and use content production tools such as Photoshop and Premier regularly.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have a full understanding of BBC Three’s Audience and Brand: a passion for developing new and innovative content and the ability to translate that passion into day to day work and relationships with and develop of others. You will be a creative thinker with demonstrable experience as an Assistant Content Producer. Knowledge and appreciation of the digital industry is essential. You will also have experience of using a wide range of content production tools as well experience of monitoring social media channels.
