We are seeking an Audience Research Manager in our Audience Content team. This is a permanent role based at New Broadcasting House in London.
The Audience Content Team works across the following parts of the business – BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four, iPlayer, Drama, Comedy, Entertainment, Factual, Children’s, Arts, Acquisitions and Films. Our main stakeholders are the Content Board, Commissioning and Channel Teams but we work with all parts of the business including Strategy, Finance and Marketing.
The role will be mainly responsible for working with reporting and data teams to transform our offer to internal stakeholders – integrating new BARB data to cover off SVOD and Video Sharing data, integrating broadcast and iPlayer data for a single audience view. You will work with strategy and insight to accelerate ROI and content value as embedded audience centric measures. As well as working with the wider audience team to enable the Content team to make better use of all pan BBC insight and tools.
As such, the following experience and skills are required in addition to those detailed thus far:
- Must have a thorough understanding of appropriate industry or bespoke data sources. The candidate must have an in-depth understanding of BARB data which will include Focal Meter and will have used Techedge or Infosys to a high level. Advanced Excel, the ability to be able to build pivot tables and PowerPoint skills would also be preferable.
- Candidates must have proven experience of being the lead in research projects (both primary and secondary) of a strategic nature, having a significant role in shaping the project approach, conducting the research and in conveying effectively the results and their implications. Candidates should also have experience of presenting research to senior stakeholders.
- A proven record of achievement in audience research with experience of taking research beyond data to insights and action. In depth knowledge of market and audience research techniques gained through significant experience of market research.
- A sound understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, with an ability to devise new ways of better exploiting research data. Successful management of projects of significant scale and complexity to challenging deadlines.
- Evidenced experience of utilising sources of digital and multi-platform performance data, and applying this within business scenarios.
