BBC Radio Bristol serves a fantastic area. As well as the busy news patch of Bristol, we cover the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare, the splendour of Bath and the industrial and rural areas of South Gloucestershire. It’s a complex and exciting area with everything to offer.
We’re seeking an experienced radio journalist, specifically with experience of programme production, as well as reporting skills. You’ll have a flair for crafting creative speech programmes, know how to work with a range of presenters, be full of ideas and confident reacting to breaking news and sourcing the best guests and contributors. We are a seven day a week operation and this role will require some weekend working.
The Ideal Candidate
You’ll be confident, creative and have extensive experience of programme production. You’ll need to be comfortable with working to tight deadlines and making the decisions that matter both in the run up to the start of the show and whilst the programme is on air. We would expect you to have experience of live studio producing gained on a local radio station.
You’ll have an understanding of our audience and how to engage them. You’ll understand how to use social media to gather stories and to interact with our audience.
You’ll have a full range of technical skills, be able to drive a broadcast desk if required and have experience of live radio reporting.
