Broadcast Journalist, Multimedia (Persian Service)
BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences. It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels. As part of a historic and exciting expansion, the BBC World Service is expanding its language services serving audiences in Persian, Turkish, Afghan and Uzbek.
BBC Persian reaches a weekly audience of approximately 18 million people in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and around the world, providing content on TV, Radio, Online and Social Media. It is one of the BBC’s most popular and successful global services.
We are looking for three Broadcast Journalists (Multimedia) to work in the London team.
Working as part of the editorial/production team in London for BBC Persian, your role as Broadcast Journalist is to work across website, social platforms, TV programmes and radio to ensure that the highest quality content is created for our audience. Reporting to the Multimedia Editor, you will contribute and participate in new media platforms, ensuring all content meets the highest editorial standards.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will be a fluent modern Farsi speaker and writer, with an excellent command of English. You will have a journalistic background with a keen interest in the developments in the digital market where Persian is spoken, as well as knowledge of what works on digital platforms. The ability to produce original and creative stories and programmes for TV is essential, together with a good broadcasting voice and strong reporting skills. You will have a broad knowledge of international news and current affairs, as well as issues related to the target region.

The maximum salary for this role, inclusive of allowances, is £41,000 per annum.
