Broadcast Journalist, Multimedia (Tamil)

Job Introduction

BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences.  It uses multiple platforms to reach its weekly audience of 320 million globally, including TV, digital platforms including social media, AM, FM, shortwave, digital satellite and cable channels.

We are looking for a Journalist to join our team in Delhi on a fixed term contract for six months.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Senior Broadcast Journalists and Tamil Service Editor, your role is to work across website, social platforms and the TV programme to ensure that the highest quality content is created for our audiences, and make sure that content conforms to BBC editorial standards.  You are expected to ensure our output is engaging and relevant to the audience.  You will deliver powerful stories under pressure for a range of platforms.

Are you the right candidate?

The successful candidate will have a full command of Tamil (written and spoken) and a high level of English.  You will have a journalistic background, and a good working knowledge of international current affairs and a keen interest in the developments in the digital market in India and South Asia.
