The BBC’s Broadcast services are at the heart of communities across the UK; telling stories that matter to people, on TV, radio, online and via our wider digital services. Through this apprenticeship opportunity, you could be part of the next generation of broadcast operators.
Working alongside our programme makers our Technical Operators provide the craft and technical support skills to help bring the stories and programmes to life.
This Apprenticeship is an exciting entry level opportunity to join BBC Northern Ireland; from the cut and thrust of news, the highs and lows of sport, quizzes, comedy, music and entertainment, Broadcast Operators are involved in all aspects of our TV and Radio output.
On successfully completing this apprenticeship, you may wish to progress your career-path into the following specialisms:
- Camera Operations/Floor Management
- TV Vision Mixing
- Radio Sound Operations
- Technical Directing
- Sound & Vision Editing
- Shoot/ Edit Multi-skilled Operator
- Media Managing
- Network Monitoring
- Master Control Room Operating,
- Support Technician
Are you the right candidate?
This apprenticeship is all about being part of the action. You don't need to have previous work experience however we do want to see your passion and drive to do this type of exciting and demanding work shine through.
We would love to see examples of any transferable practical skills that you may have through a related hobby or interest, other extra-curricular activities and volunteering.
Throughout the application process, you will be assessed on the following:
- Practical application (including the ability to multitask)
- Problem solving
- Time management
As long as you have these skills, we can teach you the rest!
We’re looking for grades 9 to 4 (A-C) at GCSE in English and Maths or equivalent.
You must currently hold documentation that gives you the legal right to work in the UK full time from (mid to late) September 2020 in order to be eligible for this scheme. You also need to be over 18 at time of starting in September.
