Business Affairs Manager, Radio & Music - Podcast (In-house title CRBA Manager)

Job Introduction

The Radio and Music Rights, Legal and Business Affairs team is a multi-disciplinary team, responsible for the contractual aspects of commissioning and production of programmes and content for the BBC across music television, radio and online, and the subsequent commercial licensing/distribution of R&M content and services. This role is focused on supporting the CRBA Radio & Music (R&M) Radio and podcast activities.  This is a 12 month role with potential to extend and is based in London.

Role Responsibility

As CRBA Manager for Radio & Music (R&M), working closely with the Senior CRBA Manager, you will support the CRBA team, and Radio/podcast commissioning teams as the Business Affairs lead for Podcasts.  This is a key role driving the strategy for CRBA to acquire, optimize and exploit podcast IP and will involve working with Talent and other rights owners.  In addition, you will be the key legal drafting and contracting resource within the R&M Commercial team, and across the R&M CRBA team as required.

Are you the right candidate?

You will be legally qualified, with experience of providing general legal and specialist IP advice and demonstrable experience of rights issues relating to digital media and content and co-production agreements.  A sound understanding of media business and legal affairs issues for Podcasts and audio content is essential and will be complimented by the experience you have gained from working across radio, TV and digital.  

You’ll bring sound experience of business development, demonstrated by maximising and managing commercial deals through all stages - negotiating& contracting with 3rd parties.  Strong legal drafting skills are required and you will possess a good knowledge of relevant agreements, general contract law, and strong contracting capabilities.

A sound understanding of the global commercial market for music & audio content, across digital/OTT and terrestrial broadcasters is required.  You'll also possess a depth of experience of managing multiple projects through to completion, within both time and budgetary constraints. Supporting this will be your strong analytical skills, your ability to solve problems creatively, and implement decisions. With your strong interpersonal skills and relationship management experience, you will be able to influence internal and external stakeholders will be underpinned by your sophisticated negotiation and communication skills.
