Chief Financial Officer

Job Introduction

The BBC is currently recruiting for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This appointment will play a key role in ensuring we deliver the BBC’s ambitions.

Role Responsibility

As the CFO you will play a key leadership role in ensuring the BBC is driving best value from the licence fee by effective resource allocation, financial control and reporting.

You will provide first-class leadership and line management, acting as a role model for peers and direct reports and ensuring the desired culture and values are embedded across the division.

Leading the strategic planning and funding of the long term, three year and annual budget processes, you will be accountable for the financial performance of the BBC through effective budgeting, forecasting, reporting and control.

You will lead the implementation of a consistent approach to Finance business partnering, shaping business strategy, develop business plans and provide high quality financial and commercial advice.

Working closely with Divisional Finance Directors, Director Centre of Excellence and Chief Operating Officers across Divisions, you will lead the allocation of capital investments and re-allocation of resources to ensure Finance is providing the right balance of support and governance in line with the BBC’s strategic priorities.

Driving best-practice, you will also lead a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the integrity of the Finance Operating Model whilst playing a key role in influencing and evolving the BBC’s approach to finance and business performance.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a qualified accountant with a proven track record in senior leadership positions, demonstrating the ability to shape strategy and assess options for future growth in a disrupted, rapidly changing environment.

Highly action-oriented and decisive, you will have a strong belief in measurement and continual improvement with a relentless focus on outcomes and creating new and better means to achieve business success.

You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and persuade a broad range of stakeholders.

Excellent leadership skills are essential and you will demonstrate a proactive approach in supporting staff development, performance and career progression.
