The Factual Entertainment & Events Production team have an exciting career-building opportunity for a Commercial Executive to join on a 12month FTC. As the Commercial Executive, you will support the Senior Commercial and Business Development Manager and play an integral role in the delivery of commercial strategy and revenue growth within a fast-paced production unit.
The Factual Entertainment & Events Team are behind some of the UK’s most entertaining and enriching programmes, giving audiences an escape from reality through relatable, funny and aspirational content. The team are renowned for making distinctive, quality programmes, formats and features like Top Gear, Dragon’s Den, The One Show, Amazing Hotels, The Royal Wedding and Festival of Remembrance.
As the Commercial Executive, you will be given the opportunity to deputise for the Senior Commercial and Business Development Manager across a range of their responsibilities where appropriate. Your responsibilities will also include;
Commercial Deal Making - Collaborate with the Senior Commercial and Business Development Manager to negotiate commercial deals for content with BBC Studios, co-producers, and others including distributors, publishers, and other funders.
Funding Proposals - Submit investment proposals to BBC Studios, co-producers, and third-party funders via the relevant BBC database where commercial investment is sought.
Database Management - Manage databases used by the BBC to record commercial deals and forecasts including CILS and C3PO.
Contracting - Manage the contracting process with distribution partners and secure signatures in a timely fashion.
Supporting Commercial Deals - Service commercial deals throughout the term of the deal including following delivery of the programme.
Communication with Production - Ensure effective communication with production teams and advise production teams on rights, clearances, and deliverables requirements.
Delivery Materials - Agree on deliverable requirements with BBC Studios and other third parties to maximise the benefit to production whilst still meeting the commercial partner’s needs.
Targets and Forecasting - Support the Senior Commercial and Business Development Manager in forecasting commercial income and meeting commercial targets.
Research - Undertake research projects and business analysis on programme and market information where required by the Senior Commercial and Business Development Manager.

This role will be ideal for a Sales Coordinator/Executive who has a genuine interest in the Factual Entertainment and Production genre. You will have research and/or sales experience within the international television industry, knowledge of contractual and copyright matters including rights and clearances, and a good understanding of the needs and motivations of content producers.
You will be curious by nature, developing your knowledge in the commercial world through communication and research, and be confident in presenting ideas. You will be fearless in seizing opportunities that encourage growth for the organisation and thrive in a fast-paced environment where success is global.
You will possess proven negotiation and influencing skills and a high level of computer literacy with extensive knowledge of databases, spreadsheet packages and able to plan ahead and prioritise effectively.
You will have the ability to develop and form collaborative relationships with people at all levels within the BBC and externally and be flexible, adaptable, and work with a variety of situations and people.
You will also be a team player, proactive, and a well-informed decision-maker who takes responsibility for their own decisions whilst knowing when to escalate matters or delegate tasks and responsibilities. Demonstrate resilience, drive, and energy and promote enthusiasm and commitment in your daily work.
