Commissioning Editor, BBC Russian Service

Job Introduction

BBC World Service Group is an international multimedia broadcaster, delivering a wide range of language and regional services on radio, TV, online with a big focus on mobile.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Editor to oversee the work of deployable news teams in the Moscow bureau of the BBC’s Russian Service.

Role Responsibility

In this senior role, you will work as part of the BBC Russian Service’s management team to make sure that we produce the best digital and television journalism in Russia; and that our reporters, producers and shoot-edits always innovate and experiment, whilst remaining true to BBC standards and guidelines.

You will plan, organise, coordinate, oversee and control news deployments, making sure that reporting teams are properly supported in their work; that news events in Russia are properly covered; and that the service produces hard-hitting, impactful journalism for our audiences in Russia and in other Russian-speaking countries.

Are you the right candidate?

You are an experienced journalist who has worked in the field, and has moved on to an editorial role, deploying and commissioning correspondents.

You are fully across news developments in Russia and the neighbouring countries; and you take a keen interest in international news, as well.

You know how to produce and commission engaging content for digital platforms, in text, video, and other formats.

You have the ability to speak and write Russian fluently and also have a good working knowledge of English.
