Company Secretarial Assistant

Job Introduction

The Company Secretarial team is a dynamic, efficient group of professionals led by the Company Secretary, and working closely with colleagues across BBC Studios within the UK and globally. The team interacts with a large number of senior stakeholders within BBC Studios, including the CEO.


This role is one of two Company Secretarial Assistants in the team and reports to the Deputy Company Secretary. The Company Secretarial Assistant will lead discreet projects and will participate in team initiatives, which involve dealing with highly confidential information and tight deadlines.


The advertised vacancy is an interim role for one year, providing maternity cover for the current incumbent, and it is highly desirable that the preferred candidate is able to join by August 2022.

Role Responsibility


  • Provide high quality company secretarial services within the Company Secretariat team.
  • Project manage the production of UK statutory accounts for the BBC Studios Group.
  • Project manage the approval and execution of corporate approval documents such as Written Resolutions, Powers of Attorney, Deeds and Certifications.
  • Complete statutory filings with Companies House.
  • Assist in the preparation of Board and Committee papers, issued via Diligent Boards.
  • Maintain a comprehensive shared drive and filing system for the company’s documents, records and meeting papers.
  • Maintain the company’s statutory registers and records in Diligent Entities, working closely with other members of the team to ensure any changes are recorded promptly.
  • Assist with any projects that impact the Company Secretarial team as may be needed from time to time.

Are you the right candidate?


  • Have experience in or exposure to working within a company secretariat team.
  • Currently hold or be working towards a Chartered Secretary qualification.
  • Have experience of drafting powers of attorney, Deeds, Written Resolutions and other corporate documents.
  • Have experience in completing statutory filings with Companies House, either through web filing or through a third party software such as Diligent Entities or GEMS.
  • Be self-motivated, highly organised and methodical with attention to detail.
  • Be able to take and act upon feedback in a positive manner.
  • Be experienced in working at pace in a changing environment, able to operate under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Have strong planning and time management skills as well as the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have advanced skills in using MSOffice software. A knowledge of Diligent Entities or GEMS software and meeting portals such as Diligent Boards would be advantageous.
