The BBC is the leading Children's broadcaster in the UK. We are proud of the award-winning content we make across all platforms. BBC Children's & Education is committed to offering the best cross-platform and on-demand service for all UK children, providing a trusted environment which is enriching, enabling and relevant to the under 12's. Our content seeks to entertain, inform and empower children, adding real value to their lives.
Behind our content, we need to make the numbers speak to be able to create value for money programmes that appeal to as wide a ranging audience as possible. Our team of Content Accountants make this possible, and we are now looking for another Content Accountant to join the team.
The Content Accountant will be based within BBC Children’s and Education Embedded Finance team and reports to the Finance Business Partner. The role will support all areas of Children’s production management and work closely with the business areas, and ensure the department adheres to the appropriate procedural policies.
The Content Accountant will provide financial support to our Business Managers, Editors, Budget Holders and wider financial teams where necessary, putting into place effective controls and applying continuous improvement methods across our key processes alongside the usual budgeting & forecasting, and accounting & reporting.
Given that we work in a creative industry, a key part of this role is to communicate regularly with non-financial stakeholders in a way that can be understood by all, and taking what can be often jargon heavy Accounting standards and translating them into practical solutions.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a part qualified or qualified Accountant with experience of delivering high quality accounting and reporting services in a Production or Media environment. Knowledge of theory is important however, we are looking for someone who can take financial theories and apply them practically to us with the ability to communicate this effectively and in an understandable way to the teams that you will support.
