Content Producer Weekend

Job Introduction

]Working in the features editorial team in New York, the Weekend Content Producer will have responsibility for weekend coverage on the homepage. The role will involve sourcing, maintaining and updating content (text, images and AV) on the homepage, and in promotional units on The Content Producer will work closely with Content Producers in New York, London and Singapore to deliver on key weekend audience and commercial aims of the homepage. The position will be based in New York.

Role Responsibility

The key responsibilities are:

  • Editing/writing sharp headlines, programme synopses/descriptions and additional editorial content as required - such as links, comment, opinion, votes, competitions, feedback, and newsletters
  • Sub-editing and preparing journalism for publication on the web to the highest BBC editorial standards
  • Liaising with stakeholders and editorial teams in News, Sport, Travel, Future, Worklife, and Culture, and other sources that contribute content to the homepage or on which commercial promotional modules appear
  • Updating/removing content in line with an agreed schedule
  • Assisting with specific project/product-related tasks and developments, working where necessary with internal users within the BBC

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidates will possess the following skills and experience:

  • BS/BA in journalism, or equivalent working experience
  • Proven experience producing online content for a media company, and experience as a journalist, producer, or editor
  • A background in news/journalism
  • Strong editorial news judgement
  • Native-level command of the English language
  • A clear, fluent writing style and an ability to produce strong headlines, news summaries and promotional texts
  • A strong visual sense, experience in picture research and high level image editing skills using Adobe Photoshop
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think quickly and critically based on data and analysis
  • Computer skills including familiarity with all MS Office applications
  • Day-to-day expertise with CMS’s and analytics tools, like Chartbeat and comScore
