Contract Coordinator, International Production and Formats, Germany - FTC

Job Introduction

We have an opportunity for an experienced Contract Coordinator to join the International Production & Formats Business Legal Affairs EMEA (excl. France) team. This is a crucial role assisting the Head of BLA in the provision of business and legal affairs support for BBCS’s format and production business across EMEA in particular Germany, Nordics and South Africa.

The role will also be part of the wider IP&F team (covering France, USA, India and UK); delivering class business and legal affairs support on matters of key strategic, financial and reputational importance to the business; ensuring that the highest standards of corporate governance, risk management and compliance with law, policy and regulation are observed at all times.

Role Responsibility

Supporting business affairs deal making and contractual negotiation in relation to the full breadth and depth of the business in the region (by geography and area of business operation - including Format Sales Agreements, Production Agreements, Talent Agreements, Location Agreements, Service Agreements, Merchandising Agreements  etc.)

Managing risk, ensuring first class corporate governance and protecting the BBC's brand and reputation both through the provision of legal advice but also through contributing to the development and implementation of excellent efficient and effective processes

Equally important role in ensuring compliance with all of the BBC policies and procedures and relevant legislation and regulation (including, for example, fair trading, anti-fraud and corruption, editorial, ethical and environmental, etc.)

Provision of excellent drafting and management of contracts with customers and suppliers in a timely and effective way to deliver the best outcome for BBC Studios

Delivering timely and high quality legal advice to the business (evaluating facts and applying knowledge while recognising the focus of the business) all in a practical and commercially focussed way in relation to all relevant matters that reduce risk, resolve issues and maximise the opportunity for the business to deliver on its goals

Liaising, as appropriate, with other parts of the BLA teams in BBC Studios (e.g. in relation to content investment, marketing, brand protection, collective rights management, commercial policy, company secretarial, data protection, information security, corporate matters, etc.)

As a Contract Coordinator, you will have had experience in/possess knowledge of the Media industry and hold a Bachelor and Masters of Law, or equivalent. You’ll be adept in applying contract and commercial law and will possess a sound understanding of intellectual property law and will be confident in drafting, from contract templates, in addition to amendments, extensions, request and approval forms.

You’ll be accomplished in managing your own workload and prioritising without direction and will welcome opportunities to develop your awareness within your team and wider business. With an organised and methodical work approach, you’ll possess excellent attention to detail, enabling you to proof read effectively. Given your passion for building relationships and engaging the business, you’ll demonstrate a collaborative communication style, which affords you a broad cultural awareness across the multiple territories. You will be fluent in German, English, a knowledge in Danish would be advantageous.
