Data Architect

Job Introduction

The Research and Education Space (RES) is an ambitious three-year project which seeks to give access to the archive content of UK public institutions to those in formal learning in the UK. In the early phases this material will come from the BBC, as well as selected partners.  This pool of content will expand over time. We are looking for two Data Architects to join the project until March 2016.

Role Responsibility

As a Data Architect, you will be working as part of a small team of developers responsible for delivering technologies which will allow access to  diverse archive catalogues, contribute to the adoption and specification of RDF vocabularies in a variety of domains, including on-going engagement with organisations such as the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) whilst also working directly with partners to assist them in publishing their catalogues as Linked Open Data and conversion of datasets from and to a variety of formats.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a working knowledge of scripting languages such as PHP, Perl, or Ruby. You will also have a  strong interest in open data and Web standards, data-driven Web publishing  with experience of Shibboleth and/or SAML, public key cryptography and the X.509 suite; with an interest in the BBC’s output and archives.
