About the BBC User Experience & Design (UX&D) team
We design the BBC’s amazing digital experiences, from apps to websites, from BBC News to CBeebies. We design the‘behind the scenes’ employee experiences to help make these happen.
In UX&D you’ll get to shape the tools that help people across the BBC unleash their full creative potential. Working together with users and colleagues, you’ll take a holistic, human-centred approach to help create a BBC that’s truly fit for the Internet age.
As a Design Researcher, you’ll work alongside a team of designers, user experience architects, Creative Directors, and wider stakeholders to give employees and partners the best possible experiences. That could mean working on enterprise-level finance and HR systems, production tools that let journalists create and publish content online, or even systems for News, Radio and TV broadcasting.
Human-centred design approaches are a fundamental part of how we work. In this role you’ll be applying them and supporting others to make sure the user’s voice is clearly heard on projects and in decisions. You’ll work closely with those across the BBC who use the systems you create.
In the small team assigned to Internal Systems, you’ll be working closely with a Senior Design Researcher. You’ll devise imaginative and practical methods of researching both for inspiration and evaluation, using qualitative and quantitative methods.
You’ll be part of a team of over 100 user experience professionals across the UK with a global audience and great learning and development opportunities.
Are you the right candidate?
For this role, you need to show:
- You’ve got solid experience providing qualitative and quantitative design research expertise to user experience teams.
- You take a methodical and detailed approach to planning and executing research projects.
- You’ve got great communication skills and enthusiasm for reaching out and connecting with your users, your team and your stakeholders.
- You’re keen to learn and open to new ways of working.
- You plan and manage your own work, and keep the right people informed in good time.
