Job Introduction

BBC Wales produces a wide range of services for local BBC output and S4C, in particular a number of sport productions, alongside some of BBC Network’s, best known, productions, such as: Doctor Who, Crimewatch Live, Take a Hike, Vigil, Cardiff Singer of the World and Young Musician of the Year.

Now homed in our new building in the centre of Cardiff, BBC Cymru Wales is equipped, with state-of-the-art technology, including the latest in graphic design resources.

BBC Wales Graphic Design is looking for a Graphic Designer with related broadcast design skills, experience and expertise. You will be joining a talented and motivated team, working on our vast and varying output, using software such as, Adobe CC, NUKE, C4D, MAYA and VizRT.

Role Responsibility

As a Designer, you will work across all areas of broadcast graphic design & VFX, under the lead of a Senior Designer, alongside the wider team of in-house Designers, taking a role across BBC Cymru Wales’ varying productions’ requirements.

Your main responsibilities will include the design of varying content for broadcast, such as: titles, informational content, VFX, AR, VR, CGI.  You will present and produce creative, innovative ideas, ensuring they are at the forefront of design progression, liaising with production and external facilities to negotiate and deliver on deadlines and budgets.

You will have the ability to work consistently to a high standard whilst performing under pressure with a high workload and quickly changing priorities.  You will be used to collaborative team work, focused project management and have organizational skills.

The Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in design of all types alongside a comprehensive technical knowledge of industry standard software, Adobe Creative Suite, MAYA, C4D, NUKE and VizRT, file formats, resolutions and colourspace.  You will play a key role in the production and design of varying material.  Conceptualize creative images and ensure they are at the forefront of design progression, innovation and quality.  You will also have excellent knowledge of associated kit, software and render farms.
