Digital Marketing Manager, Doctor Who

Available in 239 territories, winner of more than 100 awards, we have 54 years of  history,  of thrilling and emotional adventure full of  drama, delight, hope, wonder...and bags of  fun. As the brand welcomes a new Doctor we have big plans for the years ahead across digital platforms and across multiple markets.

We’re seeking an experienced Digital Marketing Manager to shape and deliver our plans across digital and across the globe. You will be an integral part of the franchise brand team bringing plans to life and engaging with audiences across online and social.

Role Responsibility

You will understand and be able to respond to the regional nuances of the franchise across international markets. You will support a range of lines of business and commercial franchise partners and licensees protecting brand integrity and serving audience needs whilst planning marketing campaigns and activity to drive quantifiable commercial returns. We want you to fully understand and deliver to the current fans whilst also bringing new fans to the brand. You’ll need to balance the history and canon of Doctor Who with the creation of ‘ New To Who’ access points into the franchise, identifying, engaging and exciting a new fanbase who don’t yet know the delights the brand has to offer. You’ll diversify the audience across digital platforms and across established and emerging international markets.

The role will report to the Head of Digital Marketing & Publishing and work closely with colleagues in digital planning, production and CRM. There will be regular contact with the franchise brand team, international market leads, colleagues within BBC Public Service and production in Cardiff. You will be able to think both strategically and long-term whilst delivering tactically to the immediate term. This is an exceptional opportunity to truly shape the digital iterations of the Doctor Who brand at a pivotal moment in time.  You must have a genuine passion for Doctor Who and the wider Whoniverse.

The Doctor is a completely unique  type of hero –brain over brawn, compassion over violence and we’re seeking a Digital Marketing Manager with similar attributes to come and join the team. You’ll need passion and heart but just the one.

Are you the right candidate?

You will likely have solid international digital and social marketing experience, have managed both a small team and a sizeable budget. You will be familiar with achieving delivery and consensus within a matrix organisation and have experience working with external 3rd party commercial partners. You will have managed digital campaigns from inception through delivery and performance analysis. You will have experience of an always on approach to digital and have managed paid and organic social activity.
