The Digital Workplace - Endpoint Executive Product Manager will be instrumental in defining and guiding the direction for devices across the BBC estate and fully engage with senior stakeholders across all divisions to implement this direction.  Responsibility for the coverage of all end user devices, hardware and software, and the modern management strategy changes required in order to bring the BBC into having a robust and flexible operation for obtaining, delivering and maintaining devices out in the BBC. 

 

The end user device strategy will be focusing on customer experience and usability both in back end systems and on the end user device itself. It will enable a secure and modern approach to all aspects of device management in order to reduce support calls and improve overall efficiency.  With the shift to higher volume of laptops and home working, this role is also critical to the success of implementing the tactical and strategic fixes needed to continue to support 29K+ users, many currently working from home.

Role Responsibility

  • Define and develop product strategy for a portfolio of related products, or very large product with wide-ranging scope and features  - based on the strategic vision for the division and wider BBC objectives
  • Use analytics and audience research to uncover and investigate user behaviour; to establish insight into product performance and to use this data to drive ideas, features and product improvements.
  • Monitor, summarise and report analytics and feedback from the user base or audience to measure performance of the product
  • Continuous improvement of the product, identifying  and prioritising enhancements, communicating them to the business as required
  • Work with the stakeholders, key members of technical staff and within governance groups to understand business needs and drivers and confirm objectives and priorities
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders and manage change in relation to specified requirements, looking to uncover deeper, strategic needs and opportunities
  • Build and maintain a product roadmap and backlog consistent with the BBC's wider digital strategy and product portfolio
  • As a product moves from discovery to definition, work with engineering teams to create an appropriate execution strategy.
  • Product managers play a key role in leading Agile delivery teams, working with Project Managers, Engineering and User Experience leads to deliver products to deadlines
  • During build, optimise the product for the needs of the business, bringing together user experience, business and technology.
  • Develop relationships with pan-BBC and external stakeholders, delivery partners and suppliers as well as with peer to peer and more senior internal stakeholders
  • Propose, agree and work within product budget. Develop and maintain business case in support of product(s)
  • Own contracts with vendors, negotiate and influence to hold them accountable to the terms of the agreement

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced in working within a large enterprise ensuring products follow best practice and security standards. Be instrumental in defining and guiding direction for devices across the BBC estate and fully engage with senior stakeholders across all divisions to implement this direction.
  • Lead requirement gathering sessions with stakeholders and manage change in specified requirements, looking to uncover deeper strategic needs and opportunities. Have experience in managing a small team. 
  • Have a commanding technical understanding of Windows OS and MacOS/iOS configuration management and information security requirements on end user devices. Have a solid technical understanding of desktop management infrastructure and management toolsets, in particular in modern management methodologies and technologies. Are able to use analytics and research to establish insight into product performance and to use this data to drive ideas, features and product improvements.  
  • Able to maintain and manage the security and product updates of software across all end user devices in conjunction with our 3rd party suppliers. Work with our service management and helpdesk partners to ensure service rings are clearly defined with effective user feedback processes. Lead these lifecycle changes to the devices product to ensure it is secure and keeps pace with industry technology, business requirements, efficiency and sustainability standards. Monitor, summarise and report analytics and feedback from the user base or audience to measure performance of the product. 
  • Able to participate in key IT service management functions, Change, Problem, Service and Release management. Can differentiate and be attuned to the needs of a varied speed environment where there is a mix of more traditional on-premise requirements for broadcast technology against a continually improving modern approach to the faster paced requirements of remote workers and those using the latest SaaS technologies. Are truly cognisant of the need to provide the best possible user experience for the end user and aim to ensure an efficient and robust end to end delivery of devices across the organisation.
  • Experienced in working with outsource partners, being responsible for identifying and translating business requirements into outcomes via effective supplier and contract management.
