BBC Studios is a powerhouse of bold British television, leading the way in creative storytelling. We already produce 2500+ hours of content every year and we are constantly growing. The Factual Entertainment & Events team deliver some of the UK’s most enriching and distinctive programmes from Top Gear to Bargain Hunt, The One Show to ceremonial Events such as VE Day, The Queens Birthday Parade; Trooping The Colour & Earth Day.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our fantastic creative teams as we look to hire an outstanding Director of Production across Factual Entertainment & Events.

Factual Entertainment & Events is where we create super brand Top Gear, shows such as Dragons Den, Amazing Hotels, Jay Blades’ Home Fix, Antiques Roadshow, The One Show, Morning Live,  Gardeners World and ceremonial events such Festival of Remembrance & New Years Eve Fireworks

Role Responsibility

The role offers a huge breadth of variety for someone with a wealth of production experience who can lead on our long-term content strategy.

Supporting and working closely with the MD for the Genre, the Director of Production will lead the production management and commercial teams, ensure the health of the pipeline with appropriate investment in development and, as a senior leader, drive new business from both the BBC and in all major international territories.

This is a hands-on job that combines management with programme-making and exceptional communication skills.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have an outstanding track record as a leader in business and deep experience of production management, matched with proven commercial acumen and the ability to transform a business in terms of commercial success, production methods and digital platforms.

With experience gained both domestically and internationally, you’ll be a seasoned negotiator with an extensive network across broadcasters and 3rd parties. You will know what it is to lead and develop diverse teams across a number of bases, coupled with extensive experience of the production process, IP and rights management, P&L management and Production Health & Safety.

Expertise in project management and change management is essential, as well as experience in managing large teams at differing levels of experience.
