Runner Pool - BBC Studios Cardiff and Bristol

Job Introduction

BBC Studios Factual Entertainment and Events team are looking to hear from Runners based in Cardiff and Bristol to join our BBC Studios Talent Pool.

Joining our pool of successful candidates will enable you to be offered work as and when opportunities arise during peak periods.

The Runner role provides support to production/department teams in the office and on location by performing a number of production related supportive tasks and activities.

Role Responsibility

Within a Production office environment duties will typically include:

  • Acting as a point of contact for a range of both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that these are given a positive image of the BBC and the department.
  • Duties may also involve filing/distributing paperwork, data entry, arranging meals, and transportation for artists/crew etc.
  • Booking kit and card management for upcoming shoots

On-set / on-location duties will typically include:

  • Acting as a courier, helping to ensure correct facilities are available and distributing call sheets, Health and Safety notices, and other paperwork.
  • Assisting with members of the public, contributors and On-Screen Talent.
  • Assisting camera crew and production team with delivering and moving kit around a fixed location, managing catering and driving equipment to and from base.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of working in a production office
  • Experience of working as a runner on location.
  • Valid driving licence (and for insurance purposes be over the age of 23) as there will be a requirement to drive to and from outside broadcasts using BBC issued vehicles
  • Familiarity with a variety of technical equipment used in broadcasting would be beneficial
  • Experience of dealing with contributors/talent – people management.
