Editor - Investigations, BBC Scotland News & Current Affairs
BBC Scotland News and Current Affairs is looking for an experienced, self-motivated journalist to lead the BBC Scotland Investigates team, which produces award-winning investigations and documentaries.
As a key part of the News and Current Affairs management team, the post holder will share overall departmental editorial responsibilities, support management colleagues, and play a full part in implementing the department’s strategy and policies.
The Investigations Editor will lead and manage a team of reporters, producer/directors, and assistant producers.
You will be responsible for commissioning and delivering distinctive, significant investigations which achieve high levels of impact and audience appreciation.
You will guide the team’s journalism from the development of ideas, through the creative process to the delivery of outstanding films, providing vision, strategic direction, and confident leadership.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will have a track record as a dynamic, creative editorial leader; a highly developed knowledge of investigative journalism; experience of long-form film-making; and ideas for increasing impact for the team’s journalism on digital platforms.
You should be able to demonstrate experience of making sound judgements on matters of editorial sensitivity and an understanding of the law in relation to broadcasting.
A track record of outstanding leadership and the ability to create a vision and inspire others is a key requirement of this role.
