Executive Producer, Factual Entertainment & Formats
Globally, BBC Worldwide takes a lead role in developing premium content for audiences through a strong slate of programmes, leveraging deeper producer relationships, and by pursuing a more creative approach to deal-making. We’re looking for people to join the team who can help us to maximise the return from our content relationships through access to programmes and creation of new IP, exposure to growth businesses, and ever-closer partnering.
The BBC Worldwide Content team are hiring an Executive Producer to work closely with the Genre Director and Creative Director, Formats. With a goal to deliver a focused development slate of diverse and innovative format IP from suppliers to serve the Fact Entertainment and Formats pipeline.
Drive, collate and manage development slate of content for editorial pipeline initiatives. Areas of focus will be to collate ideas, develop IP with production partners, oversee development in order to present slate to Genre Director / Creative Director, Formats.
Act as BBCW executive producer on programming initiatives we do with broadcasting partners to deliver programmes that work for the BBCW slate. Activities will include viewing, agreeing casting and helping to shape the programme in the edit.
Support the regional teams and oversee local format commissions for regions such as South Africa.
Be across, up-to-date and inform team on commissioning opportunities and commissioning editor briefs for all UK broadcasters and global SVOd players and Telcos. Be editorial point person on team for info about these opportunities.
Keep team up to date on what’s hot and what’s not with regards new titles in our genres on global market with regular show and tell briefings at team meeting.
Work with Creative Director of Formats & Head of Creative Network to identify & develop IP of back catalogue of BBC Worldwide formats as directed.
The Ideal Candidate
Scope & Impact
Forge close relationships with UK programming community within the UK Production community.
Develop effective working relationships with BBC Worldwide programming counterparts in all WW regions (Asia, Australia/NZ, CEMA, Western Europe, LatAm and North America) to ensure global market insight feeds into Factual Entertainment and formats strategy
Attendance where needed at major programming markets within and outside of the UK, which include; BBC Showcase, MIP, MIPCOM, Realscreen.
Support Genre Director and Commercial Director to develop slate of content with production partners as directed according to the initiatives and business development opportunities on offer.
Support the Creative Director of Formats & Head of Creative Network to identify & develop IP of back catalogue as directed and take out to indies / studios to work up.
Regular contact with production teams for content under production including maintaining strong relationships with on and off-screen talent and feeding back on requirements
