External Affairs Executive, Digital UK

Digital UK currently has an exciting opportunity for an External Affairs Executive to support the advocacy programme for free-to-air television in the UK.

Digital UK is owned by Arqiva, the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV. We are leading the development of Freeview Play, one of the UK’s fastest growing TV services, and manage the day-to-day operations for terrestrial TV. 

Role Responsibility

Reporting to our Head of External Affairs and working in a close-knit Communications team, the External Affairs Executive will help support the development and delivery of all stakeholder engagement relating to terrestrial television, which is widely known by industry and consumers as Freeview.

This newly created role is a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and experience across a broad range of corporate and public affairs activity. You will be managing the design and production of stakeholder collateral, helping to organise stakeholder events, tracking and reviewing engagement plans and managing the company’s CRM system. Digital UK works with a wide range of stakeholders including parliamentarians, policy makers and civil servants, broadcasters and content providers, the consumer electronics industry and consumer groups. In addition, you will monitor and disseminate political and industry intelligence to ensure Digital UK stays on top of all relevant issues, policy development and legislation.

The Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role gained in a public affairs, communications or policy team. They will be an excellent communicator, able to turn complex issues into simple and compelling ideas, and a collaborative, proactive self-starter. Knowledge and/or experience of the workings of Whitehall and Westminster is preferred and an interest in TV and the media is essential.
