Finance Business Partner - 6 Month FTC - Global News & Streaming

Job Introduction

We are looking for a qualified and deadline focussed Finance Business Partner to support Global News & Streaming in a significant period of growth and change.

The Finance Business Partner will report to the Head of Finance, Global News & Streaming, with line management of a finance analyst. They will focus on forward-looking strategy and high priority projects, monitoring performance and making recommendations to drive long-term sustainable commercial returns.  They will add value through providing financial and strategic analysis and insight to influence key decisions, identify opportunities for revenue growth and support the development of commercial initiatives.

Global News & Streaming sits within BBC Studios’ Global Distribution business, which has revenues of over £500m and multiple office bases across the USA, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. We leverage intellectual property from the BBC and the wider British creative sector to generate value for rights holders and enhance their global reputation.

Global News & Streaming is an area of high growth and investment for BBC Studios, and we are looking to expand our Finance Partnering team as we grow our D2C and advertising business across our online and TV news products. The role is initially for 7 months with potential to become permanent as the operating model for this expanding part of the business evolves.

Role Responsibility

  • Shape long-term financial strategy, establishing a data-led approach to modelling future financial trends and engaging with finance counterparts and the wider business to align key assumptions
  • Produce quality research, analysis and financial modelling to support the development of strategic projects and commercial initiatives, as well as ad hoc strategic reviews
  • Deliver robust budgets and forecasts, advising business stakeholders on efficient allocation of resources and risk management
  • Establish clear KPIs for the business, monitoring performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Support in the development and appraisal of investment proposals, evaluating options and making recommendations to ensure alignment with the strategic and financial plan
  • Work with counterparts across the business to build robust and efficient data processes to improve business decisions and performance

Are you the right candidate?

  • A convincing and persuasive communicator, required to modify beliefs and opinions of teams, as well as senior stakeholders, able to establish effective and collaborative relations across BBC departments, and external agencies/stakeholders where required.
  • Adept at managing numerous, diverse senior stakeholders, often operating under tight timescales and managing numerous competing priorities.
  • Possesses a strong understanding of the media sector and competitors, and the relevant in-depth knowledge of current industry trends and issues. Experience in advertising and/or D2C an advantage.
  • Experience of presenting ideas in a variety of formats for different audiences including written papers/reports and presentations.
  • Good understanding of finance principles with the ability to build and maintain complex financial models;
  • Professional accounting qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent preferred
