Finance Manager COO Group

Job Introduction

This means people who can support our overall strategy and implement best business practice, and those who have the financial accounting, reporting or control experience to know where every penny is and goes.

The COO Group finance team is responsible for reporting and analysing the financial information across all of the areas which ensure the smooth running of BBC Studios. This includes global operations, procurement, transformation, property and technology. In addition, the team supports the business with a variety of project work across all areas.

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to support the COO team and lead a team of two Analysts, on a 12 month fixed term contract.

Role Responsibility

Provide analysis and interpretation of the business area results and partner key internal stakeholders to support the business to deliver the results.

Take the financial ownership of two large technology projects, providing in depth analysis on a monthly basis of the actual costs to date. This will require regular updates with project managers to ensure they have been accurately recorded.

Provide support to two qualified financial analysts across their current responsibilities, whilst also offering opportunities to develop their skillset.

Ensure month end is delivered on time and review group reporting documents ahead of submission.

Review all balance sheet accounts, working with key business areas to ensure transactions are understood and accurately recorded with monthly reconciliations, and that the balance sheet is in line with IFRS and where applicable local GAAP.

Be a key contact for the annual auditors, delivering audit requests in a timely manner.

We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager, who is innately passionate about the media industry and has a broad understanding of BBC Studios. You will understand the importance of relationships and a collaborative leadership style. You will naturally demonstrate your credible people management skills to engage the team’s focus and motivation to continually deliver success. 

Forming partnerships at all levels is one of your key skills, confident in exploring solutions for you stakeholders at every opportunity. You will be confident in building and maintaining a strong controls environment, in addition to demonstrating your key skills in analysis and commercial commentary. You will hold a professional accounting qualification or have had significant commercial experience.
