Review all balance sheet accounts, work with the business area, central Finance functions, and IT, provide support and direction to ensure transactions are understood and correctly recorded with monthly reconciliations, and that the balance sheet is in line with IFRS and where applicable local GAAP.

Lead the annual audit process to deliver the required information for the sign-off of results.

Support the preparation of the statutory accounts, tax, and VAT returns for the UK and overseas-based subsidiaries and act as a key point of contact for external accountants, to ensure all statutory filing timelines are met.

Coordinate, supervise, and performance-manage a team of management and assistant accountants, providing professional guidance and advice to support decision-making.

Support the development of a high-performance culture, deliver solutions to address short-term financial issues, work with colleagues to identify and resolve root issues, and ensure that consistent/effective processes are in place to ensure high levels of delivery.

You will support department improvement projects as required (e.g. SAP Analytics Cloud roll-out) to improve processes across the team.

The Ideal Candidate

At BBC Studios, we seek people who are passionate about who we are and what we do

To be successful in this role you will have a proven track record in commercial finance in a management accounting environment including strong technical accounting skills and controls experience. Professional qualification in accountancy (preferably ACA or CIMA) and demonstrable relevant PQE.

Your experience working in a global organization with regional / multi-site finance teams within the media sector or/and consumer-facing business would be both desirable and a strong advantage. You will have good analytical and financial modelling skills; strong MS Office skills, particularly Excel (including pivot tables) SAP, and BW experience will be preferable.

You will be an excellent communicator with strong organisation, presentation skills, and the ability to communicate sometimes complex accounting rules to non-accountants.

You’ll champion best practice, acting as an advocate for efficiency and continuous improvement. Passionate about people, you lead by example with empathy and encouragement, putting people first.
