Due to the success of our global BBC branded services and our UKTV channels, we have an opportunity for a Global Acquisitions Manager to join the Global Acquisitions team on a permanent basis. You will be a senior buyer with responsibility for sourcing and securing content from external suppliers for our UKTV and international BBC-branded services.

Role Responsibility

As the Global Acquisitions Manager, you will be responsible for the sourcing and negotiation of content from external suppliers for our linear and non-linear services, leveraging the businesses’ joint buying power to maximum effect and co-ordinating across the global portfolio of branded services.

Contribute to BBCS branded services and UKTV strategy by providing insight on the acquisitions market as a whole and advising on available content.

Work closely with editorial stakeholders across BBCS and UKTV, building and maintaining strong relationships and ensuring effective collaboration and communication.

Forge new relationships and build on existing relationships with content producers and distributors, ensuring BBC Studios/UKTV are in a strong position to have a first look at titles and potential output deals.

Ensure that all deals are within the approved budget and comply with BBCS and UKTV policies regarding rights, commercial terms, compliance, and editorial integrity.

Line management of the Acquisitions Executive and Acquisitions Assistant to develop, nurture and support them to do their best work.

Attend screenings, industry markets, and events as required.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitors’ schedules and the wider tv market and a clear understanding of the UKTV and BBCS branded services requirements and priorities.

To be successful in this role you will need strong acquisitions and negotiation experience, with knowledge of programme rights and terms. A love of content and happy to watch lots of it and talk about it!

An understanding of the BBC-Branded services and UKTV channels and their editorial requirements; broad knowledge of BBC Studios’ Editorial & Commercial policy.

An understanding of evolving audience requirements and the wider media industry and demonstrable knowledge of the international content market. The ability to assess content pipelines and discern what may or may not work well, and what is editorially appropriate, for our channels and VOD services.

Experience in managing, mentoring, and developing people on a day-to-day basis.

You will also possess;

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to problem-solve and produce positive outcomes with a range of stakeholders across the business
  • Proven track record of being organised and responsive in fast-paced environments
  • Adaptable and resilient, able to cope with the pressure of managing the demands of a high volume of work, the various needs of different stakeholders, and meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently requiring excellent organisational skills
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work and comfortable with a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to use own initiative with confidence and using judgment to escalate where necessary
