Impact Officer, North (BBC Children in Need)

Job Introduction

BBC Children in Need are currently looking for an Impact Officer to support with grant making and management activity within the charity. This is a 9 month, full time contract based in the North of England.

The successful applicant will play a significant role in the North to meet the aims of the charity. You will be managing a geographical area and grant portfolio, working with local and national stakeholders to facilitate the development and delivery of solutions for change for children and young people.

Interviews are expected around w/c 23rd August.

Role Responsibility

Reporting into the Impact Manager, the Impact Officer will be the first point of contact for existing funded organisations and will manage a grant portfolio and geographical patch.

You will be integral to the grant making process and will provide support for these processes within the wider Impact Team. Alongside this you will play a key part in supporting the BBC Children in Need Appeal and this includes acting as a point of contact across the voluntary and community sector and for key stakeholders throughout the BBC, across the BBC Children in Need fundraising community and beyond.

This role supports the vision to enable even more effective and sustainable positive change for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have experience in grant making,  working within the voluntary sector, or children and young people spheres. You will have an understanding of the current voluntary and statutory sectors, preferably across the North of England but also within the wider context of the UK.

Your excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills will allow you to communicate appropriately with people of all types and at all levels. The ability to organise a large workload and to work quickly but calmly to tight deadlines is critical.

A high level of personal resilience is required to be successful in this hugely rewarding position where you give back to the community and change the lives of children and young people across the UK. We are looking for a genuine team player who can contribute effectively to the team as well as the ability to work independently.

Package Description

Band: C
Contract type: Fixed-term (9 months)
Location: Flexible - close to any northern office e.g. Salford or Leeds

Salary: £25,670 - c.£30,000 (excluding London Weighting)

Our pay frameworks use salary ranges rather than spot rates and individuals will be placed appropriately within the range based on individual experience and taking into account internal relativities.
