Job Introduction

Do you have strong Irish language skills and a passion for broadcasting?

An bhfuil scileanna láidre Gaeilge agus an dúshuim sa chraoltóireacht agat?

BBC Northern Ireland is offering an exciting freelance opportunity for authentic Irish language speakers to work with our TV Presentation Announcer team across local BBC Gaeilge content.

Tá BBC Northern Ireland ag tairiscint deis iontach do shaoroibrithe a bhfuil scoth na Gaeilge acu a bheith ag obair lenár bhfoireann Fógróirí Láithreoireachta Teilifíse i ngach cuid d'ábhar BBC Gaeilge.

Role Responsibility

After coaching and with support from BBC Northern Ireland’s TV Presentation Announcers you will write and record your own scripts. Your recordings will then be broadcast as live to promote and introduce popular BBC Gaeilge programmes such as Trad Ar Fad! and An Focal Scoir.

I ndiaidh oiliúint agus tacaíocht a fháil ó Fhógróirí Láithreoireachta Teilifíse BBC Northern Ireland, scríobhfaidh agus taifeadfaidh tú do scripteanna féin. Craolfar do thaifeadtaí amhail is beo le cláir BBC Gaeilge a bhfuil an-tóir orthu, ar nós Trad Ar Fad! agus An Focal Scoir, a chur chun cinn agus i láthair an phobail.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for creative individuals who have strong Irish language skills and are passionate about BBC output.

You should have a high level of fluency and familiarity with all aspects of the language; pronunciation, intonation, and accuracy of grammar in constructing scripts. A key requirement is the speaker’s command of the Ulster dialect which will be familiar to the majority of viewers with an understanding of the language in Northern Ireland.

As well as being able to write engaging short form content we need you to be organised and used to meeting deadlines. Part of this opportunity will involve you working on your own to create scripts so we would also expect you to be highly motivated.

Tá muid ag cuardach daoine cruthaitheacha a bhfuil scileanna láidre Gaeilge acu agus an dúshuim acu san ábhar a chruthaíonn an BBC.

Ba chóir ardlíofacht agus cur amach ar gach gné den teanga a bheith agat; fuaimniú, tuin chainte agus cruinneas gramadaí le scripteanna a chur i dtoll a chéile. Is bunriachtanas é canúint Uladh a bheith ar do thoil agat óir is í is mó a mbeidh lucht féachana i dTuaisceart Éireann a bhfuil Gaeilge acu cleachta léi.

Le cois a bheith ábalta ábhar gearr suimiúil a scríobh, is gá duit a bheith eagraithe agus cleachta le cloí le sprioc-amanna. Mar chuid den deis seo, beidh tú ag obair ar do chonlán féin le scripteanna a chruthú agus, mar sin de, tá muid ag dúil go mbeidh tú thar a bheith tiomanta, spreagtha.
