Journalism Coordinator, BBC Wiltshire
BBC Wiltshire is an award-winning station. We pride ourselves on a love for life in Swindon & Wiltshire and the connections we have with the urban & rural communities in our patch. It’s a great place to work, broadcasting across the county from our headquarters in Swindon, only an hour from London & Bristol. The area includes the vibrant, fast-growing town of Swindon, alongside numerous rural market towns across Wiltshire. We have ancient landscapes & monuments such as Stonehenge & Avebury as well as major employers like Dyson & Nationwide and around a quarter of the British Army.
This role is for a Journalism Coordinator working across our programming and digital output.
You’ll be an important member of our production team, coming up with an endless supply of story & treatment ideas, setting up guests, writing briefs, assisting with live production and occasionally live reporting and driving the desk. A key part of the digital work includes iBroadcast, keeping the BBC Wiltshire programme pages up to date.
Are you the right candidate?
We’re looking for someone with a positive attitude. You’ll need an understanding of our target audience, proven production skills, editorial judgement, experience of radio production techniques and a flexible approach. You’ll come up with lots of ideas and be able to demonstrate examples where you’ve delivered creative radio. You’ll have a good on-air voice and be confident in setting up programme guests and writing briefs for presenters. A great ‘people person’, you’ll be technically adept and able to handle several important tasks at the same time!
