Journalist, Arabic Planning
BBC Arabic is the largest BBC language service, providing news, current affairs and programmes on Radio, TV and Online to Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East and across the world, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. We are looking for a Journalist to join the team in London on a continuing contract.
You will be working on the Arabic Newsgathering planning desk, working with a team helping to plan news coverage and specific story projects. You will also assist in the commissioning of stories from Arabic Correspondents and stringers as required. You will be required to plan next day events and future news and features which will require some weekend working.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will be a fluent Arabic speaker and writer, with an excellent command of English. You will have recent experience of planning next day and longer term news coverage with teams working in the field and overseas. Substantial experience of editorial and logistical planning of overseas deployments is essential. You will have the creative ability to identify, discuss and promote human interest stories that work on TV, Radio, Online and digital platforms. You will also be highly organised as you will be required to maintain an accurate comprehensive and up to date version of the Newsgathering News Diary and contacts.
Contract type: Continuing
Salary: £30,000 - £39,756 per annum inclusive of allowances
