BBC Arabic is the largest BBC language service, providing news, current affairs and programmes on Radio, TV and Online to Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East and across the world, 24 hours per day, and seven days per week.
The Arabic service aims to deliver the most distinctive, trustworthy and challenging journalism in Arabic in the world. It aims to better reach and serve its Arabic speaking audiences, to explain the world and their place in it.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Journalist with Radio knowledge to join our new and growing team in Amman.
Reporting to the Senior Journalist, you will be working as part of the editorial team. You will research, write, translate, edit or adapt items, stories or programme material for Arabic Radio News & Programmes. You will be responsible for carrying out editorial tasks and ensuring content meets BBC editorial guidelines and is relevant to our target audiences.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a fluent Arabic and English speaker, with experience in a journalistic role. On-air broadcasting knowledge is important. You will have the ability to write creatively in an engaging manner, adapt, produce and translate with accuracy, clarity and style appropriate to younger audiences and different forms of media. Substantial knowledge of regional and global news and a full understanding of social media and digital journalism are essential.
Location: Amman, Jordan
Contract: fixed term for 12 months
